  • Project Goals

To continue the legacy of the military dependents' village as a living space, this project focuses on the three main themes of “village + art + heritage.” Beyond presenting the historical events and memories held within this site, our goal is to reintroduce it into people’s daily lives as a vibrant public space.

  • Project Overview

① Phase 1 + Phase 2 (42 households) - Crafts, Culture and Creativity and Military Dependents’ Village Culture Preservation Base:

The 42-household area is adjacent to Zhengzhen Road and faces the Port Art Center. It is conveniently located and is the area in the park that is most likely to gather crowds. It is planned to be the early development unit of the park and become the leader of the park's development. It is hoped that it can retain visitors to the park and provide more introductions to provide the greatest inducement and niche for the development of other areas.

This area is mainly focused on the preservation and promotion of military dependents' village culture and the spatial planning of craft micro-culture and creative industries. The planned contents include the permanent military dependents' village museum, military dependents' village food art garden, craft micro-culture and creative industries, and community resident space. This area takes the military dependents' village cultural area and cultural and creative area as its main development vision, becoming an important window for understanding the park.

② Phase 3 (Zone B + Part of Zone C) - Ceramics Zone, Picture Book Story Zone, Environmental Theater and Heritage Exhibition Zone Plan:

The development of Area B will focus on ceramics, picture book residency and narratives of local characters. Picture book story areas and ceramics areas will be planned in this area. In conjunction with the picture book creation and ceramics residency programs, picture book writers will have space for creation, exhibitions, book collections and lectures. Ceramics studios and handcraft classrooms will be provided, and a ceramics market will be held on weekends.

The environmental theater is planned to have a semi-outdoor performance space, with the goal of developing local repertoires and cultivating local performance groups. The west side of the park (Zone C and part of Zone C) was divided into two after the opening of Zhenzheng Road. Due to the site excavation plan when the road was opened, the south side of Zhenzheng Road became an important site hotspot. In the future, it will be renovated into a space for cultural heritage display and education, and the Zhongshe Site Museum will be set up to reproduce the richer cultural sections of the historical axis.

③ Phase 4 (Zone C) - International Art Cluster:

Area C is planned to be used as an international art residency space in the future, with art performance areas, art corridors, studios and workshops, exchange halls, etc., with the goal of promoting art education, providing space for domestic and foreign artists to reside and create or stay, and through residency and creation, achieving opportunities for international art exchanges, and developing into an international art cluster.

  • Project Achievements and Anticipated Benefits

To date, the park’s overall planning project has been completed, and the area has been reclassified under urban planning as a dedicated Military Dependents’ Village Cultural Zone. In Phase 1, initial renovations on 15 houses have been completed, marking significant progress. Moving forward, efforts will focus on establishing the “Qingshui Military Dependents’ Village Cultural Park” as a primary cultural preservation site for military dependents’ villages in Taichung City and as a prominent arts and culture hub for the coastal region.
